Updating the update!

So on Valentine, Zaido's teacher sent a note about how everyone in class are going to exchange something blah blah. I did not buy him anything..but i sat with him and we made Valentin cards. I should of took a pic of all the 33cards that we made! Any way, the next day he came home with a white bag filled with all the Valantiny stuff. After two days, i see this in the bathroom trash! I'm such proud mama:D

Kebbeh day!

This is history lol...i actually made Kebbeh yesterday=)
i just joined this cocking group in face book, and they had the kebbeh recipe..i was like..it sounds soo easy and decided to make it right away. The surprised excited hubby helped alhamdulilah! =)

take a look;)

Now i'm not sure when im going to make it again! it's not very hard but it makes you overwhelmed too!and of course you can't make it alone! You need another hand! I was soo tired in the end of the day! But it's also so nice to see hubby and bro happy to have such unexpected meal on the table lol. Somthing about Kebbeh that makes it so speacial!! It's like we only eat Kebbeh in Saudi or when my dad visits :D!
But, it's also nice to make our own good memories too...and yes i can lol
What can i say, in our culture food = LOVE

Disturbing Kids story!

When i was in Saudi, my older sister was cleaning up her daughter's room because she just bought them a new grown up bedroom, Mashalah my nieces are 14 and 15 now!!:) so while cleaning up she came across those Arabic story books and told me those are for Zaid's age..of course i got excited and took them.

Now after we got back from the trip and took the books out i was absolutely shocked when i was reading them to Zaid. Now they are 4 set of books and the stories goes something like that:
-the mommy chicken told her kids to eat breakfast and they all sat down to eat except this one chick who wanted to play, he didn't listen and walked too far so the bad bird (Crow, they colored him in purple!!) saw him alone and kidnapped him and wanted to eat him!! the good bird (falcon) saw him n saved him!
- the mommy chicken told the chicks to get up early for school...they all were ready for school except this one chick who walked to play and was late for school...the bad black bird saw him alone and kidnapped him and wanted to eat him. the mommy sends the good bird (falcon) to save him!

It was really disturbing to read that, they actually wrote "and he brought the knife and the fork to eat him", " he prepared the fire to bbq him"!!!! i was like WTH is this a kid book, Really!!

I just want you to see the pic ur self!

speechless ha ;)?
i did explain to Zaid why this bird is bad..he told me, "it's wrong he is holding a knife..now the police man is coming to get him!" =)
i just think it is too graphic for kids and ther is SOOO many ways to tell this simple stories!

Am i being too dramatic here?!

some updates!

well well! its been a while again! life is good alhamdulillah..it's been exactly one months since i came back from Saudi!! feels like a dream subhanallah. Mohamad came back Friday night and it was a crazy day. his flight arrived at night so i was cleaning the house all day..then around 2pm this lady called from zaid's school telling me that he is crying from his ear! luckily i had just finished bathing lana and she was dressed already, i put my scarf on and a bottle for Lana and picked him up then headed to see his doctor. I was there for almost 3 houres! zaid was nagging alot and lana was running around, thank God Ammar came and sat with us, we are lucky because this doctor just moved his clinic next to the masjid and it is a walking distance :)
after that i went home, fed the kids fast and went to the masjid for a meeting! then i was stuck their until Isha..then went to the airport! alhamdulilah my brother is here safe and Zaid is doing good, he was excited to see his khalo=)
on Saturday i saw my brother only during breakfast! he slept ALL day! so at night i told Ammar it's the perfect timing to put the kids to sleep and go see a movie :D..and wala, there was no need for any discussions. We watched the Edge of Darkness! it was good! i almost jumped from my chair at one of those unexpected scenes, all people were shocked too and were laughing at themselves, the lady behind me was like OMG OMG! LOL.
The next day we took my brother for a nice dinner, and on Monday ammar took the masjid's youths to the snow trip in Big Bear. I did not want to be alone so i invited some friends for breakfast..it was nice. Then i took zaid to Chuck e cheese and met with a friend, she came home after that..we had lunch and zaid was so happy playing with her daughter=) It was a very nice and full week alhamdulilah.
Now since Mohamad was in Saudi, i moved Lana's bed into his room. I wanted to try and see if she is going to sleep better at night. usually i put her to sleep around 8/9pm and as soon as Ammar and i would enter the room, she would wake up and i have to make her a bottle. It was so annoying! Zaid was sleeping all night by 9 months! SO alhamdulilah it worked! but now Mohamad is back to his room and i do not want her in our room again, so days before Mohamad came i asked Zaid if Lana can sleep in his room? and he had the cutest look in his face and said yes=)
so alhamdulilah it's working so far! she is sleeping better at night and our room is back to us;)
Now she goes to bed the same time as zaid which is perfect! she is already lisiting to the stories i read to zaid and sometimes interrupting us with her cute talks :)
oh and I'm so proud of zaid with his love of lisiting to Quran. I bought him his own CD player 2 years ago for that reason (my mother in law used to do that with Ammar:)
After we finish the story, he turns it on and goes to bed habeby..the other day i think he woke up in the middle of the night to drink water and turned it on again! so now Lana is listing to Quran too =) who knows inshallah it will help them memorize the Quran faster :)
On another note! Lana has been doing this really weird thing! she broke 3 bottles in 3 days! WTH! the PLASTIC ones!! she will be drinking and when she is done..she throws it hard on the floor..and they crack!! so i bought her a new set of bottles from Target and i made sure they are the cheapest ones lol. i got her some cute clothes too :) Mahsllah she is growing up so fast habebty running around and driving me crazy. we always have to be alert around her. she climbs everything..the chairs then up to the food table, one time she fell down from the chair but did not care! she tried it again any way. I finally bought a new gate for the kitchen thank God!
We had this incident with zaid the other day lol, so he went to the bathroom did #2 and the toilet did not work anymore! i was laughing and told ammar here u go..your son is a true Kahfy lol Ammar tried to fix for 2 days but nothing worked, and we had to call someone to fix it finally =)
Zaid is doing good in school, on Wednesday we signed some papers to add him to the speech class. He will start in March 3 times a week. The speech teacher advised us to try and speak with him only in English for 2 weeks and see if that can help! After sitting with him, she thinks that he is getting confused with the 2 languages..she also asked me to show him pictures from any story and ask him about it and he needs to answer me in full sentences. I have noticed how important that is because zaid dose not talk that much (like instead of saying yes/no he will nudd his head instead...) and i need to force him to do so more. Inshallah he will be ok there is already 3 kids from his class in the speech program, it's just so nice to see how the teachers are actually caring about him, I'm really thankfull that zaid has a good school and a good teachers alhamdulilah.
may Allah protect our kids and families and save them from any harm. Amen.
